“Seeing the Japanese People…” Steve Kerr gets real on challenges of Golden State Warriors’ preseason trip to Japan
Steve Kerr of Golden State Warriors
Steve Kerr recently made it to the NBA headlines as he revealed the challenges the Golden State Warriors can face due to the preseason trip to Japan. The Dubs lifted the title last season and now are the defending champs. So the league has decided to send the team to Japan to show out some basketball action to the fans there. Steve Kerr though isn’t a fan of the idea due to the training camp getting disrupted but is still riding with it as he knows it is fun to be around there.
Steve Kerr already has the Golden State Warriors back in action with unofficial runs and practice sessions. The training camp for the Dubs will start on 24th September and then after some days, they’ll fly out to Japan for two preseason games against the Washington Wizards one on September 30th and the other one on 2nd October. The venue for both the games is Saitama Super Arena. Then they’ll be back and playing the rest of the preseason games in the USA itself with Steve Kerr running some new plays on the floor.
Such trips don’t really ruin the training camp but also disturb the players and coaches just before the regular season starts. So a bad start can really limit your chances so not many are fans of such trips around the league. Even Steve Kerr doesn’t likes them as the one to China in 2018 didn’t age well with the players. They get an outing but when they return to a changed environment things are different for them and can cause health and mental issues.
Steve Kerr recently appeared on Damon and Ratto and gave out the challenges they are about to face as he quoted: “It’s not the ideal way to go through training camp. It’s not how you draw it up, but it’s an incredible opportunity. To go to Tokyo, which is such a great city…It’ll be an amazing experience for our players and coaches.”
Further, Steve Kerr added: “Any sort of training camp disruption is far outweighed by the benefits of being in Tokyo with the team and growing the game. Seeing the Japanese people cheer on Steph Curry and the team, it’ll be a thrill.” He ended his take being humble but everyone knows he isn’t a fan of it and the team will have to pay a price once they return back.

Can Steve Kerr and the Warriors defend their title?
The Steve Kerr led Golden State Warriors can really defend their title and register another one to their name. But this time the road isn’t going to be easy for them. As they have lost some good key bench players who played a superb role while being in the rotation last season. And the western conference has also got a lot tougher this year with stars and superstars returning back to perfect health and shape. But since they have their legendary trio of Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and the Greatest Shooter of All-Time Chef Curry they can pull out anything and they may shock the world again.
