This off-season was punctuated with surprise blockbuster trades. One of the most surprising ones was Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors. The trade came as a surprise to many, considering the fact that Paul and the Warriors were long time rivals. Paul, during his time with the Houston Rockets and even the Phoenix Suns often faced off against Stephen Curry and the Warriors.
His trade therefore, left a few Warriors fans wondering whether or not there could be locker room issues with the Warriors team. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr however, has gone on record and cleared all doubts. According to Kerr, Paul is the perfect fit for the Warriors. He added on that Paul is exactly the kind of player and leader the team needs and his presence will be greatly beneficial to the Warriors
Kerr was quoted saying, “He’s the perfect fit for us right now because frankly, I think we needed leadership.”
Kerr then further added on, “I think we needed a guiding force for this group. I think our team was so young last year and obviously never really got it going. I think we put up a pretty good fight in the playoffs, but we never really found our groove.”
The fact that Kerr has positives about Paul should be a good sign for him and the Warriors team. All that remains to be seen is how the Warriors season pans out.
How has Chris Paul’s first few game with the Warriors been?
Until now, Paul has just played two games for the Warriors. Both of them pre-season matchups against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors won both of them, the first one -125-108; the second one – 129-125.

While Paul only played 13 minutes in the first match and 20 minutes in the second, his impact has been visible. He has quickly formed an on-court chemistry with Curry and the co-ordination between the two has been exciting to watch.
In his first match with the Warriors, Paul recorded 6 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds which is impressive considering he played just a little more than a quarter. The true impact of Paul’s presence will be understood as the season progresses, and Warriors fans should be very excited to see what this season has to offer.
