Following his initial support of Draymond Green in the choking incident with Rudy Gobert, Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, has now stated that Dray was in mistake. Kerr further underlined that Green deserved the league’s five-game suspension. Following the Golden State Warriors game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, when things had calmed down and more rational thinking had prevailed, Steve Kerr spoke with the media about his thoughts on the incident involving Draymond Green and Rudy Gobert.

Green will also suffer from the suspension in addition to the Warriors, who are currently without Stephen Curry. Green would miss out on $769,970 in-game fees as a result of the five-game suspension. Steve Kerr was on the court during the fight, attempting to keep players from injuring themselves more. During all of this, the head coach of the Warriors found himself attempting to break free from Green’s chokehold on Gobert.

Kerr said to the media:

He definitely took it too far. I didn't have a problem with him getting Rudy off Klay [Thompson] because the rule of thumb is you don't put your hand on a player on the other team. You get your own guy.

He also said:

With that, Rudy was wrong for putting his hands, arms around Klay regardless of his intentions. So I had no problem Draymond getting [Rudy] off but he's got to let go and hung on him for six, seven seconds.

Although the incident took Steve Kerr by surprise, he now feels that Rudy Gobert should not have taken Klay Thompson. However, he continues to believe that Draymond Green made too many attempts.

How Warriors are affected by the loose of Draymond Green and Stephen Curry?

On Thursday night, Dray started serving his suspension against the young Thunder team. After beginning the season with a 5-1 record, the Warriors suffered their fifth straight defeat at home, falling short 128-109 with him sidelined and Stephen Curry still sidelined due to a knee injury. The Warriors’ chances of earning a postseason berth may be impacted by Green’s absence, but they still need to play their best in the final four games of the team’s current five-game road trip.

In the game’s second quarter, the defensive-minded guard Gary Payton II suffered a sprained left ankle, which resulted in his loss to the Warriors. Klay Thompson continued his early-season struggles, scoring just 5 points on 1-10 field goal shooting, such as 1-6 from three-point range. Jonathan Kuminga led Golden State with 21 points.

Although Golden State is currently going through a difficult period, they should be able to bounce back given their extensive championship experience. Draymond Green’s recent actions are even more troubling. Even though there have only been 11 games this season, they have already ejected him twice. Hopefully, he will see the positive side of Kerr’s remarks.
