The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Golden State Warriors at the Crypto.com Arena last night, with the Dubs clinching a well-deserved 128-121 win over their Pacific Division rivals. The win ensured that the Lakers remained winless after losing last time out to the Sacramento Kings.

The game had its fair share of twists and drama as Lakers’ LeBron James had a three-point shot ruled out after an intensive review by the match officials, where James’ foot was adjudged to have touched the baseline. Also, Draymond Green had a call checked after he was also adjudged to have pushed the ball out of bounds.

The Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, as a result of the time wasted by the challenge calls, didn’t appear to hold back when asked about his thoughts after the game.

I'm not a fan of replays. I think we should have replays for just buzzer-beaters, and that's it. The whole goal of the replays is to try to get everything right, but there are 100 plays at each end… every night it's subjective. It's not tennis.
Coach Kerr shared

The honesty displayed by Coach Kerr showed how controversial and frustrating the incident was. The Dubs led the Purple and Gold by 124-117, with less than two minutes remaining in the final quarter, before LeBron James then attempted and made a three-point attempt that went through to reduce the deficit to 124-120.

Only for it to be chalked out, controversially, by the tiniest of margins. In addition to the long reviews, the game also witnessed the game’s shot clock malfunction, which was the weirdest way to end an NBA game.

LeBron James makes history in loss to the Warriors

The Lakers-Warriors game had lots of talking points, mostly negative, but gratefully, it also produced a positive history-making performance from none other than the evergreen, LeBron James. He became the third-oldest player in the NBA’s history to score 40 points in a game.

He finished the game with a season-high-tying 40 points on 15/23 (65.2%), as well as having eight rebounds and creating nine assists. That wasn’t enough to stop the Purple and Gold from losing at home to the Warriors.

James, who is 39 years and 77 days old, is once again demonstrating his longevity and proving why he is the King. Furthermore, the only players who have recorded a 40-point game or better at an older age than LBJ are Michael Jordan and Karl Malone
