Suspended Ja Morant gets VIBE MATCHED with NBA legend Allen Iverson as per Paul Pierce

Ja Morant has not been short of controversies and is probably one of those players who will never shy away from experiencing himself. Because of this, he has been banned multiple times from the NBA and recently was banned for the first 25 games of the NBA 2023-24 season for flashing a gun on Instagram. This, according to many, should be his last offense before he gets shut down completely by the NBA.

To avoid any serious actions against him, Ja Morant needs to have a squeaky-clean start to the NBA season to have a good relationship with the teams and his sponsors. The Memphis Grizzlers Guard, Morant, was talked about at length by Paul Pierce and Amin Elhassan on the SHOWTIME Basketball Podcast hosted by Rachel Nichols. As they discussed him and his playing style, Amin got passionate and said, “We’re rooting for him”.

Ja Morant has often gotten sympathy along his side as he has been charged one after the other for multiple offenses. Amin continued, “Everyone wants to see him be that guy from a year ago.” As they talked at length about him and how he shouldn’t have done the things that he did, they really want him “positive” and “have fun” on the court again. Paul Pierce too commented, “We like to see people bounce back”

Who was Ja Morant compared to and why does Paul Pierce think so highly of him?

Praises were sung left, right, and center and as the talk continued, Paul talked about how Morant “is probably top three” amongst the American players for him. Yet another hot take from the Paul “hot take machine” Pierce. “He’s my favorite player to watch. Hands down. Period. He’s got that Allen Iverson effect. When he played, I wanted to see him,” continued Paul, talking about how he likes seeing Morant play.

If we compare Morant directly to Iverson, they’re both undersized guards who make the NBA incredibly entertaining and people just like them off the go. With all that physical abuse of the players that they both did and do in the air while going for the hoop, they sure are similar. They’re both electric players who have energy from the get-go and slice the defences as they dribble the ball smoothly through the courts. Not only this, Alan Iverson compared Ja Morant to himself, talking about how he sees similarities between how he played and how Ja Morant plays.

With such big names counting on Ja Morant to make a successful comeback, Jo Morant sure will have a lot to lose. Whether or not, the comparisons will be correct as he gets compared to the 4-time scoring champion and a Hall of Famer, only time will tell. Till that time, Morant will try to keep his fans’ expectations high and his mental game strong as he comes back soon to the NBA.
