The Denver Nuggets made history on Thursday night, becoming the first team to advance to the Western Conference finals in the 2023 NBA playoffs. They did so by demolishing the Phoenix Suns 125-100 in Game 6 of their second-round series, sending the Suns home with a 4-2 series loss.

The Suns were missing two of their key players in Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton, who both sat out Game 6 with injuries. Paul suffered a left groin injury in Game 2 and missed the rest of the series. Ayton was suffered a rib contusion and was also ruled out of the elimination game.

Chris Paul’s season ended in disappointment and ridicule. The veteran point guard was also the target of some harsh tweets from Dwight Howard. Howard mocked Paul’s injury and his playoff failures with a tweet that said “Taiwan calling” with eyes emoji. Implying that Paul should go play overseas and that he has never won a championship.

Paul has not addressed Dwight Howard’s tweet yet. He may have bigger things on his mind, such as his future with the Suns or another team. Paul has a player option for next season, which means he could opt out and become a free agent. The Suns could also try to trade him and get some assets to build around their young stars Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.

Paul had a really average season with the Suns, averaging just 12.4 points, 7.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game in the playoffs.
