Chris Beard was charged with a third-degree felony. The charge against him was for obstructing breathing while assaulting the person. While speaking to the American-Statesman, Beard’s attorney said the basketball coach was innocent and should not have been arrested in the first place. He quoted, “Coach Beard is 100% innocent of these charges. He should never have been arrested. The complainant wants him released immediately and all charges dismissed. It is truly inconceivable.
