“You don’t wanna see us next year”, These were Stephen Curry’s words on May 21st, 2021 after a disappointing loss to the Grizzlies in the Play-In Tournament. About 11 months down the line, the Warriors have stepped up and claimed what is theirs, their opponents have bowed down, and the haters are nowhere to be seen, as the Golden State Warriors clinch their 4th NBA Title in 8 seasons.
Stephen Curry has dismembered his critics, obliterated every hurdle on his way and has led the path for Golden State to rise from its ashes to the their rightful throne. The Golden State Warriors are NBA champions after beating the Boston Celtics and has now hosted the ESPY’s as well, with his sassy side on display.
Steph started the season right where he left off. He had a huge season, breaking the 3-point record, winning All-Star MVP, becoming the first Western Conference Finals MVP. He then went on to lead the Warriors over the Celtics and win his 4th championship and his first-ever Finals MVP.
“Proud Daddy, of the Boston Celtics” – Stephen Curry, Ayesha and Riley make fun of others while his preparation for the ESPY’s
As a first time host for the ESPYs, and being generally new to hosting, Stephen Curry turned to the pros for guidance. He had Kevin Hart and Peyton Manning jump at the chance of guiding him. Kevin Hart, being himself, wanted Steph to embrace his ‘Petty King’ side, and go after everyone. In fact, he was the one who told Steph to address himself as the father of the Celtics for his opening.
Shooting over double-teams from the logo, crossing people over and shooting beyond half court, step backs under pressure, runners off one leg from 35 feet, simply the greatest display of shooting we’ve ever seen! In the end, Curry, once again, led the way for Golden State on the offensive end. He finished the series-clinching win with a team-high 34 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, adding yet another chapter to his already storied career.
Stephen Curry and Ayesha have been a very unique pair. Ayesha, who is a chef also occasionally communicates with fans on YouTube where she interviews other popular personalities and family members. However, Steph did not turn to Kevin Hart or anybody else for his jokes, but rather preferred his personal team comprising of himself, Ayesha curry and his daughter Riley Curry.
Riley and Ayesha showed no mercy to the Kings, as they came up with this joke:
Ayesha: “Why is the Sacramento Kings arena so hot?”
“It’s because they have no fans.”
This is one of the best digs at the Kings’ fans, who have a very localized fanbase, with little to cheer about.
Curry also felt compelled to poke fun at the Miami Heat and their supporters in this exchange as he had to destroy Heat supporters in addition to insulting Laker Nation. Curry also crushed the Boston Celtics earlier in the evening with a little assistance from Kevin Hart. According to Steph, the famous comedian wanted him to begin his introductory skit by referring to himself as the “proud daddy” of the Celtics. All things considered, Stephen Curry’s hosting performance was a resounding hit.
