“There’s a guy in LA”: Skip Bayless takes a shot at LeBron James while praising Giannis Antetokounmpo

“There’s a guy in LA”: Skip Bayless takes a shot at LeBron James while praising Giannis Antetokounmpo

It doesn’t matter to Skip Bayless if it is a baseball or football game, he manages to turn everything into LeBron James criticism. Skip has been heavily critical of LeBron about his free throws throughout his career. After Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s 55 on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards, what stood most highlighted was the Milwaukee Bucks star free throws. He made 15 of 16 free throws into the game, and Bayless was more than impressed. However, he again turned it into LeBron slander.

After the game, Skip tweeted about Giannis’ impressive game and said that despite the 50+ point game becoming usual in today’s game, he was most impressed with his free throws. Skip wrote on Twitter, “GIANNIS: I am IMPRESSED. 55/10/7 was terrific – though 50+ games seem to happen every night in the NBA. No, what impressed me most was 15-16 free throws. That you should be proud of.” Lately, Giannis has been struggling at the free throw line, and he is seen practicing free throws after games.

As usual, finding a way to criticize LeBron, Skip wrote an unfinished sentence that said, “There’s a guy in LA …” Despite the subtlety of the shot, every NBA fan who knows Bayless knows he is talking about the Los Angeles Lakers star. Interestingly, Giannis has made 65.7 percent of free throws compared to LeBron who has shot 75.2 percent. The Greek Freak scored 55 points, had 10 rebounds, and dropped 7 dimes in the Bucks’ 123-113 win over the Wizards.

The Greek Freak has continued to push for his 3rd MVP early into the season. The season has already seen some brilliant scoring performances from players this season. LeBron James has scored two consecutive 40-point games, Donovan Mitchell scored 71 points the night before, and Luka Doncic has already had three 50-point games in a stretch of 5 games.

On his way to his career-high 55 points, the Bucks star broke his own career-high 52-point record. He also registered his name among the greats. After Flynn Robinson in February 1969 and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in February 1972, Antetokounmpo became the only player in Milwaukee’s history to have 3 consecutive 40-point games. He also became the fourth player in NBA history after Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, and Russell Westbrook to have at least 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in a game.

While almost half the season’s games have already been played, Antetokounmpo has made a strong case for the regular season MVP award. He has been averaging 32.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game. Moreover, the Bucks are one of the top teams in the league, which makes Giannis’ MVP case even stronger.
