“They’re gonna be mid forever” – NBA fans convinced Wizards making HUGE mistake handing Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma massive contract extensions
The Washington Wizards are reportedly offering contract extensions to Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis after a mediocre team season but surprisingly good individual seasons.
Kristaps Porzingis
Despite having such an awful season, the Washington Wizards have reportedly prioritized Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis for long-term deals. The Wizards are currently the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference and 1.5 games behind the nearest play-in spot. Kuzma and Porzingis are averaging 21 and 23 points per game, respectively, this season but have yet to be able to get Washington wins.
Shams Charania Tweeted – “The Washington Wizards and C/F Kristaps Porzingis are in serious discussions on a contract extension as franchise prioritizes new deals for him and forward Kyle Kuzma, sources say.” The Wizards had made the playoffs just five times in the last 13 years and have yet to make a conference final when they did make it. Kuzma and Porzingis need more consistency and playoff ability throughout their career and are only getting the Wizards to an 11th seed despite decent performances.
Washington still has Bradley Beal, but his injury record is such that the Wizards cannot rely on his fitness for extended periods. Beal has only played 50 games so far this season, and there are just a few weeks left for the regular season to end. Beal is also averaging around 21 points which makes it very peculiar for a team with three 21 PPG + scorers to be outside the playoffs.
Kristaps Porzingis puts on a show as the Washington Wizards stun the Boston Celtics
Despite Wizards fans being disappointed with their season, they can take pride in beating the #2 seed Boston Celtics last night without Kyle Kuzma and Bradley Beal. The Wizards beat the Celtics 130-111, and KP dropped 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. The Celtics were with their stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum but still could not find an answer.
The 2020 draftee Deni Avidja also had a memorable night scoring 25 points and grabbing ten rebounds. The Wizards shot just 35 % from three, but Boston was throwing up bricks more frequently than them. The Celtics shot a sub-par 25% from three-point range as they lost their 24th game of the season, keeping them 2.5 games behind the #1 seed Milwaukee Bucks.
The Washington Wizards are a strange NBA team, as they have scorers but need help finding wins. Their ‘big three’ never seem to perform together, showing an apparent lack of chemistry and staying fit together. The Wizards decided to extend the contracts of players, getting them an 11th seed while performing at career-high levels could look better on their franchise.
