“This is some bull-jive” – Analyst certain Ja Morant, Grizzlies got bigger PROBLEMS than Dillon Brooks

The Memphis Grizzlies faced the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. After hard-fought games, the series came to an end in Game 6, as the Lakers advanced to the second round. There were quite some incidents during the series, that might’ve led to the fall of the Grizzlies. Dillon Brooks and LeBron James’ saga was one of the very highlights of the series.

James and Brooks boosted the series’ competitiveness by a lot, making the matchup look more entertaining. Brooks had hit LeBron in Game 3, which had him ejected from the game. This action of him cost him a lot off the court. The whole series was full of back-and-forth between the two, though, in the end, LeBron had the last laugh. Following the series, the Grizzlies turned their backs on Dillon Brooks after his slander against James and the Lakers.

Memphis had made it clear that they won’t re-sign Brooks for the next season under any circumstance. Many came to believe, this was due to his actions and comments towards his opponent in the series. While the sole reason for the Grizzlies’ loss wasn’t Brooks or his trash talk with LeBron, it did create a negative narrative around Dillon. Shannon Sharpe came in defense of Brooks saying, “This is some bull-jive. They didn’t lose to the Lakers because of Dillon Brooks saying what he said. That’s not why you lost.”.

The Grizzlies definitely had problems off the court, which included Ja Morant’s off-court actions. The team had been impacted by their players not being under discipline. Brooks was Grizzlies’ asset and an X-factor during the postseason. He played as hard as he could against the all-time scoring leader. And to have the game under his control, he did trash talk in the middle of the game, but that shouldn’t be the reason for the Grizzlies’ front office’s decision. “Yeah he said it, yeah he talk a lot. And he doesn’t have the game to back it up. But Skip, they shouldn’t have do this man like this. He deserves better than that.”, Shannon told Skip.

Now that Brooks is a free agent, he’ll have a lot of options for the next season. From the East, the Cavs might have some interest in singing Brooks.

Whereas in the West, teams like Dallas Mavericks, the Portland Trailblazers, and the Minnesota Timberwolves might find Brooks as one of their key players. Brooks puts up decent numbers as well, averaging 14 points and 3 rebounds a game.
