Tracy McGrady was in discussion with Shannon Sharpe where they both were discussing a multitude of topics where there came a point when the generic, most common question had to be asked, of who would be the icon/face of the NBA in this generation, but unlike always, the answer wasn’t very straightforward this time, rather, a bit twisted, literally. Apparently, there currently exists no Future Face of the NBA, and in order to have an icon, a player must be from the Los Angeles Lakers, and that will be none other than the Charlotte star, LaMelo Ball.
LaMelo Ball’s addition to the Charlotte Hornets squad was hailed as one of the best selections made by their Chairman Maichael Jordan, keeping in mind how most of their selections have gone wrong in the past, but the addition of Ball brought them laurels and moved them into a direction that the team had been missing since a really long time. But, despite all that LaMelo has done for the Hornets, the honest question that is being asked right now is what have the Hornets done for the most hyped, most electrifying, most talented player in LaMelo, the answer to which is a clear one, nothing.
Unlike the previous generations, the relation between the teams and the players isn’t a one-way street anymore, the team has to do as much for the player as much as the player has to do for the team.
Tracy McGrady like a few other Analysts in the NBA have a similar thought that LaMelo Ball belongs to the Los Angeles Lakers due to a multitude of reasons, ranging from Ball’s personality, to his social media to his performance, all of which is perfectly suited according to the Lakers. While in discussion with Shannon Sharpe, McGrady discussed that the future of NBA would be LaMelo if he would join the Purple & Gold LA. The NBA has so many electrifying talents that it becomes tough to choose one out of multiple names that are often presented, the most common ones being Luka Doncic, Trae Young, JA Morant and LaMelo Ball, which were the ones brought up by Shannon Sharpe. Shannon was in discussion with Ex-NBA player Tracy McGrady, when the former asked the question of who would be the face of the NBA in the coming future, upon which he also listed the previously given names.
McGrady, without any hesitation stated that the face of the league would be one out of JA Morant or LaMelo Ball and in fact he even prioritized Ball over the former. He stated that LaMelo was a perfect fit for the Lakers with what he already has, and therefore, if he was able to move to the Los Angeles Lakers, he would guaranteed be the face of the league in the future.
McGrady then followed it up by saying that if Morant continues to do what he is doing right now with the Grizzlies, he is also bound to become the face of the NBA in the future.
