Trade Rumor: Eastern Conference team desperately “made calls” to sign Kevin Durant

Steve Nash supports Kevin Durant
With the Kevin Durant trade saga over, the superstar will stay in Brooklyn for now with the organisation stating that all parties that were involved decided to move forward together. But before KD rescinded his trade request, he was the most desired and most sought player in the league. And with recent reports, it seems that a certain Eastern Conference team made some calls to acquire the Nets star.

On the STUpodity podcast, “The Athletic’s Shams Charania said the New York Knicks asked around about Kevin Durant. I think there were calls made. The Knicks did make calls on Kevin Durant from what I’m told, but I think both sides were cognizant,” Charania said.
While the Knicks are currently not as strong as any of the other teams and would sort of be a downgrade for KD but on the bright side, he would not have to pack his bags as the teams are in the same city. Back in 2019, Kevin Durant as a free agent has considered going to the Knicks which made the team create space for a two max contract slots but KD ended up joining the Nets instead to team up with Kyrie leaving the knicks roster almost barren.
The Nets Going Into Next Season

With the off-season being full of turmoil with KD almost leaving and Kyrie Irving looking uncertain to stay if KD was gone. If this were to come to fruition, The Nets would have lost two superstars and would be in a dismal state and plus if the Nets were to accept Durant’s condition to stay, the front office would have added weight on their shoulders as Head coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks would have to be let go.
The Nets surprisingly came out of the deep hole that they were in, even winning the battle with Kevin Durant as he decided he’ll stay with the team while keeping the head coach and general manager. With one of the best rosters in the league, the Nets will be looking to make a deep impact this season.
