“They are coming!” Trae Young and John Collins are all set to follow LeBron James’ footsteps in Drew League

LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan snatched all the headlines last week after they played in the Drew League. The pair helped their team to win the close contest 104-102. The forgotten hoop league certainly caught some buzz, result of which many other NBA stars are now expressing their desire to make an active appearance on the court. There are two more high-profile names set to take the floor in Southern California on Saturday. Atlanta Hawks megastars Trae Young and John Collins will suit up for the Black Pearl Elite, the same team that Bron and DeRozan played against last weekend.
Trae Young lauded LeBron’s game last weekend, and it was a slight indication of him following the path set by the King. Young has played in the Drew League in years passed therefore it wouldn’t be a new experience for him. But it would be Collin’s 1st appearance in the Pro-AM basketball league. Fans would be excited to watch many NBA stars playing in the Drew League, right before NBA Action.
Trae Young and Atlanta Hawks are ready for the 2023 Season
Atlanta Hawks had been a good playoff team in the past, especially since the addition of 2-time All-Star Trae Young. They made it to the 2 conference Finals from 2015 but failed to clear the last hump. 2021 would be a breakout year for them, as they made it to the conference Finals, after missing the postseason for 3 consecutive seasons. But they failed to overcome eventual winners Milwaukee Bucks.
2022 though had been a slight disappointment for Nate McMillan Team. They ended the regular season with a 43-39 record and crashed out of playoffs in 5 games against Miami Heat. Trae Young, who was their outstanding player in 2021, struggled a bit costing his team to wrap up the season early. But he still maintained a high standard as he ended the regular season averaging, 28.7 points, 9.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 38% from downtown.
But the addition of future superstar Dejounte Murray and veteran Kevin Huerter could be a positive sign for the Hawks. They now possess an exciting backcourt duo of Murray and Young, while having some experience in the front court with Capela and Collins. The Hawks took care of wings with the addition of Huerter and Bogdanovic and look like a solid team to challenge the elites of the East.
Versatile as can be. The Hawks now got a legitimate running mate in Atlanta too after they acquired Spurs star Dejounte Murray in a blockbuster trade this summer. As for the drew league appearance, it might be hard to top LeBron and DeRozan, but knowing Young in particular, he’s undoubtedly going to give the fans a show with his swag and style on the court.
