Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young is balling out this season. With the offensive load on the young point guard, Young is seizing every opportunity to get buckets. One such play has lit the internet on fire.
The Atlanta Hawks were playing against the Miami Heat. In the 11th minute of the fourth quarter, with the Hawks down four, Young proceeded to fake Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. off the defensive coverage, took a step back onto the center court logo, and launched a three. The shot went in, bringing the Hawks to within one point of the Heat. Young is known for his shots from the Logo, but they have mostly comewhen the Hawks are leading or in All-Star games. In tight games, he seldom resorts to such shots during competitive moments, whic is why fans were in disbelief.
Trae Young led the Atlanta Hawks with 30 points, 13 assists, and 3 rebounds in their 113-122 losing effort against the Miami Heat. This is the sixth game in a row that Young has 30+ points and 10+ assists. This is the second time in his career he had such a streak. The streak also ties for the second longest in NBA history, only topped by Oscar Robertson.
Dejounte Murray added 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Hawks. The Heat were playing without stalwart Jimmy Butler. However, 30 points and 7 rebounds from Tyler Herro and 27 points from Duncan Robinson from the bench was enough for the Heat to win.
Fans treated by logo Trae, reminds them of Stephen Curry
NBA fans generally lose their minds when treated to any top-of-the-line highlight reel play. Logo threes are part of that top repertoire of plays that very few superstars dare to try in games. Stephen Curry is the regular go-getter for such plays. LeBron James and Luka Doncic have also had their share.
But this was at a time when the game at that moment was close enough that it could go either way. Trae was being hounded by Jaquez Jr., and him stepping out coverage and hitting the three from the logo was enough for fans to lose their minds. Check out some of their reactions on social media;
Trae Young has continuously entertained fans since coming into the league in 2018. This logo three was further proof of the abilities of the two-time All-Star.
