“Investigation needs to happen because that game was rigged” NBA Twitter enraged after game reports prove Jerami Grant traveled in final play against Phoenix Suns
Jerami Grant against Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns were on a hot streak prior to losing their match against the Portland Trail Blazers after forward Jerami Grant hit the game-winner. There was a lot of heat directed at the officiating that night after the player seemingly traveled before taking the shot at the 13-feet mark at the baseline.
The Blazers ended up winning the game at the last second and grant finished with 30 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists for the night. This led the team to a 6-2 record and tied with the Suns as well. But after further investigation, Arizona Sports reported that the Last Two Minute reports stated, “Grant (POR) gathers the ball with one hand and then takes three steps before releasing the shot attempt.”
As listed in the NBA’s Violations and Penalties, if a player takes more than two steps without dribbling the ball it counts as a travel. This engulfed the minds of fans that Jerami Grant was let off the hook for his rookie mistake. Twitter was filled with angry fans who even wanted the NBA to call a no-contest.
