“Legit question” Twitter reacts to JA Morant getting a tech for asking a ref ‘if he was playing FanDuel?’

JA Morant and Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Boston Celtics in the neck-to-neck battle. In a 106-109 loss to the Celtics, Morant scored 30 points and dropped 9 dimes. But Jayson Tatum’s 39 points helped the Celtics sail past the Grizzlies. JA Morant and the Grizzlies are among the serious contenders in the Western Conference to make it to the finals this season. They are sitting at the 5th position in Western Conference with an 8-4 record.
The match between Memphis also made a headline for a different reason as well. JA Morant got a technical foul in the 1st quarter from the referee. Allegedly, Morant asked the referee if he played FanDuel, which is an online gambling company. It is involved in gambling in sports and casinos. Considering the fact that JA has a good sense of humor it seems highly unlikely that Morant was serious about the question. But in light of Netflix’s recent release “Untold: Operation Flagrant Foul,” this was sure to make the referee furious and offended.
The Netflix documentary delves into the 2007 gambling scam that almost destroyed the NBA and called its credibility into doubt. Former disgraced NBA referee Tim Donaghy became the center of scandal and was later found guilty of receiving money from a professional gambler for which he leaked inside information about games and injuries. Donaghy resigned from the NBA in July 2007 amid reports that the FBI was investigating his involvement. He was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison.

The Memphis Grizzlies are at the 5th spot in the Western Conference with an 8-4 record. Behind JA Morant and Desmond Bane the fate of Grizzlies has drastically changed in the last two years. Memphis is not only expected to make the playoffs this season but for several analysts, they are also serious contenders to win the West.
Leading the charge for the Grizzlies is their young superstar JA Morant. Morant has been averaging 28.8 ppg and almost 7 assists a game this season. His partner in crime Desmond Bane has been averaging 24.7 this season. Morant has been in the MVP conversation since the start of the season and still remains so among others like Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Donovan Mitchell.
Twitter reacts to JA Morant’s hilarious question for the ref which got him a tech
Allegedly, Morant asked the referee if he was playing FanDuel which resulted in the referee slapping a technical foul against him. Even Morant reacted on Twitter with a laughing smiley which would mean he was not serious about the question. But in light of the documentary, it was obvious that the ref would get offended.
Several Twitter users took to social media to react to the call. One said, “Legit question. Especially the way some of these Refs call games.” Another user added, “That ref will definitely be in the playoffs, did the grizzlies make the spread tho“. Here are some more reactions:
