The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a tough 116-99 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series on Wednesday night. The series now stands at 3-2, still favoring the Lakers, who can close the series at home in Game 6. The Lakers, who seemed to be dominating the court, credits to their star player LeBron James, now suffer a terrible hiccup.
Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane and Ja Morant dominated proceedings, racking up 64 points, while being supported by the remainder of the team. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 18 points and 10 rebounds in a combined effort to get their team the victory. For the Lakers, Anthony Davis was a surprise performer, scoring 31 points, one assist, and 19 rebounds. Austin Reaves followed with 17 points while LeBron James had an off night, finishing with only 15.
The Lakers’ loss, although bad, wasn’t as poor as Lakers head coach Darvin Ham’s excuse for it. Immediately after the Lakers’ loss to the Grizzlies, Ham gave an unconvincing justification for the loss. Ham might’ve wanted to highlight that the team won’t take the pressure of this loss too seriously. But he instead ended up making a tame excuse for it. Coach Ham said, “We were told we won’t be here in the first place. So it’s no pressure. Just basketball.”
Let us now look at the viewers’ reaction to Darvin Ham’s statement.
