The Miami Heat are looking really strong to advance to the NBA Finals. They currently have a 3-1 lead over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. Jimmy Butler has been pretty solid all postseason, as the Heat are just one win away from advancing. However, despite their strong performance, they are missing one of the most prolific scorers in Tyler Herro.

The Miami Heat were facing the Milwaukee Bucks, who were the number one seed in the East, in the first round. Walking in as the eighth seed, the Heat were not favored to win and so it needed a lot of passion and effort for Miami to go forward in the season. Tyler Herro portrayed that very passionate mindset on the court in Game 1 as he charged after a loose ball. However, unfortunately for the young guard, he suffered a hand injury which was later diagnosed as a fracture.

As the Miami Heat are now knocking on the doorstep of the NBA Finals, many are wondering if Tyler Herro would be back soon. Herro’s injury was supposed to heal in six to eight weeks, as many expect him to return. Heat Beat writer Ira Winderman gave an update on his injury as it is reported that Herro has been cleared to resume basketball activity. However, as of now, there’s no timetable for his return.

Herro was arguably having the best season of his career in the 2022-23 NBA season. He was averaging 20.1 points per game with 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Moreover, he was Miami’s second-best scorer this year, second to Jimmy Butler. However, after his injury. there were many questions as to who the Heat would start. The answer was Duncan Robinson

Miami went on to eliminate the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round and the Atlanta Hawks in the Conference Semi-Finals. It could be said that Tyler Herro’s absence did not adversely affect the Heat’s postseason campaign. They’ve looked pretty solid, as both Butler and Bam Adebayo have been sensational on the court.

On the other hand, Herro will most likely not be back if the Miami Heat make it to the NBA Finals. Although he has been cleared, rehabilitation tends to take quite some time. Moreover, with the hand not being at its strongest, Herro could take a while to be back in the flow. In addition, he has also been out of practice and should he return, could possibly disrupt a well-settled Heat lineup.
