“Yo momma” Udonis Haslem fires back at fan who tried trolling him for guarding Jayson Tatum
Udonis Haslem
Jayson Tatum dropped season-high 49 points on the Miami Heat and at one point, he was being defended by Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem in the game. Udonis Haslem is perhaps the perfect embodiment of the Miami Heat culture, commitment, and intensity. Even at 42 years of age Haslem has stayed with the organization and you can see him not only on the roster but also playing against teams for the Miami Heat. Even though Udonis is no longer the fierce defender he was at a younger age, his presence holds a greater symbolism for his men on the court.
During the game between the Heat and the Celtics, Udonis was seen guarding Jayson Tatum. Tatum dropped 49 on the Heat that night in a convincing win. Guarding a player almost half your age is no joke and perhaps impossible given that he has got talent. Unfortunately, nobody could have shown Haslem’s age worse than Tatum, as he blew past him in a fraction second.
Haslem has long been silent about talks that go around about his age, but he did not hold back when a fan tried to troll the veteran on social media. He is one of those people who takes the swing at you first, but he has been keeping his cool about jokes related to his age. When a fan commented on Bleacher Report’s IG post, “why is that artifact on Tatum in the first place” Udonis savagely replied “yo momma!!!” The picture in the post showed Udonis guarding Tatum, while it said “Tatum dropped 49 pts yesterday.”
Later in interaction with the media, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra clarified that since rookie Nikola Jovic was injured, it was only plausible to give Udonis some time on the court to bring a veteran presence. “With Dewayne [Dedmon] out, we just needed a little bit more experience, we just needed a little bit more experience,” Spoelstra said. “Niko could’ve given us good minutes but UD gives you that veteran presence… All the guys trust UD. He has a way of making everybody play a little bit harder and a little bit tougher.”
Jayson Tatum lights up TD Garden with his historic season-high night
Jayson Tatum was humiliating the Miami Heat defense while Prince William and Princess Kate were in awe of the show that the 24-year-old was putting in front of them. Tatum made 15 of his 25 shots from the field and grabbed 11 rebounds. He also made 8 of 12 three-point shots that he took during the game.
As the night of humiliation ended for the Heat, Tatum became the only player in NBA history to record these numbers twice in his career before turning 25. Tatum has been on a tear this season for his offense and rightfully has been among the top players on the MVP list. He has been averaging 31.6 points per game, while his team remains at the top of the league.
