The NFL’s Super Bowl was a star-studded event. Many celebrities, well-known athletes, and famous people gathered to watch the biggest sporting event of the year. The halftime show was designed to keep the fans entertained until the teams resumed the second half of the championship game.

Tonight, it was Usher who headlined the halftime show. One of the well-known athletes watching the Super Bowl Half-Time show was former NBA player Jalen Rose. After the Half-Time Show, Rose compared Usher to the late Michael Jackson on his official Twitter account. This did not sit well with fans.

Usher is a multiple Grammy Award-winning artist. His performance was scintillating. This led Rose to say;

Usher is the new era MJ. No debate.

Obviously, his performance tonight will be one of the most-watched halftime performances in NFL history. However, what Rose forgets is that Michael Jackson is and forever will be the best and most well-known musical artist this world has ever seen. Fans reminded Rose that there is no comparison between the two. Moreover, the impact of Michael Jackson on the world of music cannot be compared with anyone else.

Jalen Rose also forgot that Michael Jackson is the reason artists such as Usher could perform for the Super Bowl halftime show. Prior to 1993, Super Bowl halftime performances were mainly from marching bands and drill teams. In 1992, a show aired on the rival Fox network at the same time as the halftime performance, decreasing Super Bowl viewership by 22%.

This led the NFL to actively pursue Jackson to headline the 1993 Super Bowl XXVII Half-Time show. Michael Jackson delivered one of the most-watched television programs of all time. This led the NFL to only consider top-tier musical performers for their subsequent shows.

Fans remind Jalen Rose who Usher and Michael Jackson are

As soon as the tweet from Jalen Rose became public, fans did not hesitate to react to the former NBA star’s bizarre comparison. They did not appreciate Rose comparing the two. As per them, both Usher and Michael Jackson should be given their due respect, and not compared with each other. Moreover, fans felt that Michael Jackson should not be compared with anyone.
