On January 26, 2020, 41-year-old NBA great Kobe Bryant, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant and a few of his close friends like Sarah Chester, wife of Christopher Chester, their daughter Payton Chester, and five others, lost their lives in a helicopter collision in Calabasas, California. The sporting world came to a halt as soon as this news broke out, and they were mourning their favorite player’s loss.

His wife, Vanessa Bryant, is yet to digest this news and overcome the loss of her partner and their daughter. Vanessa is currently in Unites states district court privacy invasion trial concerning her husband’s demise. The wife of the 28-year-old NBA star, along with Chris Chester, sued Los Angeles County for possessing pictures from the crash site.

Many of the first witnesses to the crash presumed to click pictures of the catastrophic accident and use them for personal compensation. The highlight of this incident was that a deputy from a sheriff’s office used these pictures of the NBA great to stir gossip and shared them among people at a local bar. The deputy had faced criticism for his unprofessional behaviour.

The chief apologized and paid tribute to Bryant and Chester.

As stated in an article by Law & Crime, the county chief Jorge Valdez begged for forgiveness from Vanessa Bryant and Christopher Chester and paid tribute to the NBA star during the hearing at the U.S. district court as soon as he came to know about the incident. He even mentioned that he did not know about any officer apologizing for leaking the pictures from the accident site.

The chief quoted, “Can you think of one single reason why you couldn’t have driven down to Orange County and looked him in the eye and apologized?” Jackson later asked. “No, sir,”

Captain Matthew Vander Horck was in charge of the Malibu-Lost Hills substation, which was dealing with the crash, and they emailed Jorge Valdez regarding the citizen’s complaint about the photos.
