According to the federal invasion of privacy lawsuit against the LA County Sheriff’s Department which is filed by Vanessa Bryant. A deputy is accused of showing photos of Kobe Bryant’s body at a bar to other people and a firefighter has done the same by showing them to his off-duty colleagues. Those images were reportedly shared around to 28 or more devices belonging to the Sheriff’s department, at least 12 firefighters and have been even shown to people at bars and at an awards Gala. Vanessa Bryant’s lawyer Luis Li told the court that the photos of Kobe Bryant’s remains clicked on the crash site via cell phones had no official purpose or use. But were just used for “visual gossips and for a laugh”. He also quoted: “They were shared by deputies playing video games. They were shared repeatedly with people who had absolutely no reason to receive them.” Defending the Sheriff’s department from the claim, County lawyer J. Mira Hashmall said: “Site photography is essential.” To a point, it is understandable that site photography is essential but sharing those photographs is totally not.

Vanessa Bryant was never able to hold herself and her tears during the presentation by her lawyer as she was often crying. Talking about her situation Li said: “Jan. 26, 2020, was the worst day of Vanessa Bryant’s life. The county made it much worse. They poured salt in an open wound and rubbed it in.” J. Mira Hashmall has defended the department well calling them as diligent and also regretful for their actions. She also focused on the point of the images not really being anywhere as Sheriff Alex Villanueva and department officials taking immediate actions made everyone involved delete those. But that doesn’t fix the situation Vanessa Bryant is in and is reaching out for justice. As sharing the photos of her husband and daughter’s remains without any official purpose or reason just doesn’t fit right and having Mamba Mentality in her she’ll make sure that the right decision is made and things are fixed.
