Former NBA player Tim Hardaway Sr. recently made an appearance on The Carton Show. He broke down the roster of one of the busiest teams this off season, the Phoenix Suns. One of the statements he made caught the eye of the public, and for all the wrong reasons.

He went on to say that the latest addition to the Phoenix Suns squad, Bol Bol, has better physical talent in the NBA than the number 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama. It was a bold statement considering ‘Wemby’ is one of the highest-rated NBA prospects of all time. Victor had a terrific season in France a year ago, whereas Bol Bol has struggled to make a significant impact on the two teams he has played so far in his career after entering the league back in 2019.

“I think he’s better than Victor Wambewamb, or whatever his name is. Bol Bol has better physical talent and ready to play in the NBA right now than Victor is,” said Hardaway Sr. This is one of those outlandish takes where fans scratch their heads and wonder, “What was he thinking?”

While he does have talent, Bol Bol is clearly not at the same level as Wembanyama at the moment. Wemby is coming off an amazing season back in France, where he played for the Metropolitans 92 and averaged 21.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game.

On the other hand, Bol Bol has yet to find a permanent home in the NBA after playing 4 underwhelming seasons with the Denver Nuggets and Orlando Magic. He has averaged just 6.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. After being waived by the Magic, Bol was picked up by the Phoenix Suns on a 1-year deal. He will be looking to start over under new head coach Frank Vogel.

An unfortunate injury caused Bol to miss out on a spot in the top 3 prospects of the 2019 NBA Draft and things have only gone downhill since then. For Bol Bol, this season will be all about proving the doubters wrong and showing the world that he can hoop.

On the other hand, Wembanyama could care less about the comparisons with Bol and rather focus on becoming the face of the NBA for years to come and becoming known as one of the greatest to ever step foot in the league.
