The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 121-125 in a thrilling game. The bright spot, despite the devastating defeat, was Victor Wembanyama’s outstanding performance. In just 26 minutes of playing time, Wemby scored 27 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, blocked 5 shots, had 1 assist, and had 1 steal while shooting 55% from the field. Victor Wembanyama spoke with the media about the game after it had concluded.
Wembanyama is focused on making his point after holding off on Giannis Antetokounmpo and company. The No. 1 draft pick lost out on OKC Thunder player Chet Holmgren’s Western Conference Rookie of the Month award. The Frenchman displayed the two-way skills that would make him a future superstar during some outstanding performances while the Spurs were in free fall.
Wembanyama responded when asked if the All-Star selection and the Rookie of the Month outcomes had an impact on his performance this evening. Victor Wembanyama said:
At the end of the day, I am going to get what I deserve. Every game is a statement from now on.Victor Wembanyama to the reporters
Regarding the Rookie of the Year ladder, Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama have been the two primary competitors. Every other week, the two continue to alternate between the top and second spots. Wembanyama should have enough firepower to secure a point in the second half of the season, especially with Holmgren taking the lead in December.
Victor Wembanyama doing everything for the San Antonio Spurs
It was impressive to watch Victor Wembanyama play against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. The number of points he scored in a brief amount of time on the court only serves to highlight Wemby’s capacity for successful scoring. He has averaged 19.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in the 30 games played. In his last five games, he averaged 22.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
Considering the way the Spurs’ offense and head coach Gregg Popovich’s scheme of things operate, it might be reasonable to argue that the French giant’s fury hasn’t quite reached its peak yet. Wembanyama could therefore easily win the Rookie of the Year award by a wide margin if he were to take control of games and make his own decisions on the court.
The Spurs, on the other hand, have a 5-29 record after 34 games and are currently the 15th seed in the Western Conference. They have lost their last ten games and are currently on a four-game losing streak.
