It hasn’t been the best start for the San Antonio Spurs with a current record of 6 wins and 30 losses. But amongst the heap of disappoints, there has been a ray of light. And it’s none other than their rookie star Victor Wembanyama. The recent matchup against the Detroit Pistons led to a rather dominating win with a scoreline of 130-108. But it wasn’t just the victory that caught all the headlines.
In just his 31st game for the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama recorded his first triple-double in just 21 minutes. He produced 16 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds in that win, making NBA history. No player other than Russell Westbrook (20 mins) had recorded a faster triple-double, under 24 minutes or less. Until tonight.
At just the age of 20 years, Wembanyama also became the youngest Center in the history of the NBA to post a triple-double. And fans all knew this was coming given the bright start to his NBA career. Currently averaging 19.34 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists, the No.1 picked rookie has been creating headlines consistently. And the scary thing is this is his first time playing in the NBA.
And while his ceilings are yet to be reached, there’s no question that what he is doing at the moment is nothing more than spectacular. As for the team’s record, it hasn’t been the best and they look to hope that their French sensation will take them to the next levels in the future.
Fans react to Wembanyama’s new record
It has been a dream start for the Frech rookie who has taken little to no time to settle down. And with his recent triple-double being the 2nd fastest of all time behind Westbrook, fans have gone wild.

After his sensational performance against the Pistons, fans responded by praising the French prodigy:
Time will tell how good this juggernaut of a player will become – but the signs are positive for now. And with these continuous brilliant displays, there is no question he will be a strong contender for the elusive Rookie of the Year trophy as well.
