“God help rest of the league” – Rookie Victor Wembanyama’s COLD warning to rest of NBA has fans hyped

Victor Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs locked horns with the visiting Brooklyn Nets at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas on Monday. After a long, intense game, the Spurs won by a score line of 122-115 in overtime, ending the Spurs’ three-game losing streak and condemning the Nets to their third row in a loss.

He topped the players’ statistics chart by scoring 33 points, having 15 rebounds, and creating seven assists. In the process, he joined former Spurs legend David Robinson, who was the only rookie in NBA history to record 30+ points, 15+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 5+ blocks in a game.

The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA draft has remained humble with a team-first focus throughout his rookie season. Still, his personal growth and dominance of late are impossible for observers—and even Wembanyama himself—to ignore. During the post-conference after the win against the Nets, he was asked about his progression in his rookie season.

It's a day-by-day thing, but what's for sure is that I'm not even close to being at my best. I don't see my progression stopping anytime soon, so it's good for confidence, and there's a lot to correct.
Wemby responded

Based on his current display, Wembanyama’s confidence that he hasn’t reached his potential is really scary for the NBA. Already, he’s averaging 20.8 PPG, 10.4 RPG, and 3.5 APG.

Fans react to Wembanyama’s strong belief

Victor Wembanyama led the San Antonio Spurs to an overtime win and brought them back to the win column. After the game, his comments during the post-game press conference where he said he’s not close to being his best yet caused a frenzy on social media.

Fans took to popular social media platform X to share what they felt about the rookie’s display of confidence. Check out couple of some fans’ reactions below:

Without a doubt, Wembanyama has grown as a player and is leading as a strong contender for DPOY. However, he has to learn from the mistakes of the Spurs and seek to battle for championship glory next season.
