“Black Jesus Indeed” Waitress’ reaction to learning Grizzlies star Ja Morant tipping her $500 goes viral

Ja Morant

Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies just agreed to a maximum five-year agreement. But even before signing a career contract for up to $231 million, the very well humble superstar was establishing a habit of sharing his money with others. During a recent dinner, Morant gave his server a $500 tip and as she stood and appeared to have inspected the check, he asked her whether she had gotten the tip correctly. This innocent waitress was rendered speechless by Morant.

On “God Is The Greatest,” the third episode of the Ja Morant Documentaries, Morant and his team stop in Miami to get a bite to eat. Leaving a $500 tip for his waitress is undoubtedly the most meaningful and endearing aspect of this incident. But what made it really amazing was her response when she learned that Morant is the Grizzlies’ star player.

Ja Morant’s season with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Ja Morant will re-sign with the Memphis Grizzlies on a five-year rookie agreement with a maximum salary of $231 million, which would pay him $193 million during that time. For many years to come, Memphis will be dedicated to the Grizzlies organization’s face. For the point guard, who was selected as the NBA’s Most Improved Player in his third season and who also placed seventh in the league MVP voting, this deal was only a formality. The 2019 draft’s second-overall pick is coming off of his greatest season to date. The second-team All-NBA finish and All-Star start this season for the 2020 Rookie of the Year qualified him for the maximum contract extension this year.

Morant just led the Grizzlies to what is likely their finest campaign in franchise history. With 56 victories, they equaled the 2012–13 squad for the most in franchise history, and Morant’s personal development played a significant role in it. He averaged 27.4 points and 6.7 assists per game to win the NBA’s Most Improved Player title, and if he keeps improving at the same clip, it won’t be long until he’s up for MVP honours. The Grizzlies advanced to the second round of the playoffs, and if it weren’t for Morant’s injury that ended his season, the eventual champion Golden State Warriors might not have advanced.

Ja Morant was being served by a waiter in a restaurant in the Miami region, but she was unaware of it. However, after he left her a $500 tip, she became curious and when she learned it was Morant, her response was priceless. Morant bowed and said that he played basketball after first making fun of being “Black Jesus” with the waitress. The waitress opened her mouth in disbelief when Morant stated that he plays for the Grizzlies a moment later. The waitress was then jokingly told by one of Morant’s buddies that the Grizzlies are “your new favourite team.”

Morant deserves praise for his kind spirit. As a result, as his remarkable early career with the Grizzlies progresses, he’ll undoubtedly win even more supporters than he would have otherwise. The key to everything for the Grizzlies is keeping Morant.

We now know that he intends to continue wearing a Grizzlies uniform for at least the next five seasons, making him maybe the best player to ever wear one.
