If the Golden State Warriors want to stamp their authority over the young and resilient Memphis Grizzlies in the semi-final series, they need all of their veterans coming out big and better than ever. That involved Andre Iguodala as well, who has plenty of playoff experience. But the Dubs have been handed a major blow ahead of Game 1.

Given that Andre Iguodala is an important part of the Golden State Warriors’ defensive unit, he adds immense help to the youngsters attacking while being on the back-end of the court. And can also go onto score crucial points in the paint. But with the stakes being ever so-high, especially with Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr, Dillon Brooks among other Grizzlies stars in full-form, Iguodala will be missing the initial games of the series most prominently.

The Golden State Warriors’ new “Death Lineup” also found more success in their series. Still, Kerr is going to miss Iguodala’s defensive abilities and leadership on the court. Moreover, with the likes of Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II helping Green on the defensive end, the Dubs do look fresher than ever. And what better challenge for them than to stop the hot-headed Grizzlies star.

To those who are not aware about the hate relationship between the spoken off player and team, Grizzlies fans and Iguodala have a tumultuous history to say the least. After being traded from the Warriors to Memphis in 2020, Iggy drew criticism from fans and players for his decision to sit out games.

Notably, Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks were vocal about the forward’s decision, saying it was disrespectful. Andre Iguodala was eventually traded to the Heat that same season, before returning to Golden State Warriors.
