Ben Simmons
Ben Simmons and Jarrett Allen had a bit of a chippy moment early in the game when the Nets faced the Cavaliers. The important game at the top of the Eastern Conference had playoff-seeding implications even this early into the season.
The scuffle resulted in Simmons throwing Allen to the ground in an aggressive way. Looking at the video, it isn’t quite clear what prompted Simmons to react in such a way. It looks like a run-of-the-mill basketball incident where two opposing players go for the same ball and get their arms tangled up with each other. The referee called for a jump ball and Simmons just yanked Allen to the ground.
The incident happened very early on in the game with not even half of the first quarter of the match having been played. The Brooklyn Nets eventually won the game against Cavs behind 32 points performances each from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Ben Simmons’ play key in Nets’ win-streak

Brooklyn has just won their 9th straight game. In this win streak, the Nets have a league-high offensive rating of 126, 3 points-per-100 higher than the next closest, the New York Knicks in the same time frame. They also have an overall Net Rating of +9.8, the third best in that time. Sounds good right?
Well, Simmons has only really played in the last 5 of those games. In those 5 games, the offense has gotten better. They are scoring 129.7 points per 100 and the Net Rating is up to a whopping +12.8 in that time. For context, the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors, widely considered the greatest team of all time, had a net rating of +11.6 albeit, on a much larger sample size. Nets fans recognize Simmons’ impact on the team and have given him his plaudits.

That’s what Ben Simmons has done, standing up tall to both.
It’s great to see Simmons back playing and playing well. He will have an important part to play for the Nets if they want to win the title. He will be the one to guard the opposition’s best player and back-up the superstar duo of KD and Kyrie on the other end. For now, Brooklyn fans like what they see as Ben is giving out the best possible efforts of his. So far the season he is averaging 8.2 points, 6.2 assists, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks.
