WATCH: Dillon Brooks and James Harden lock heads in Sixers’ win over Grizzlies
All-star snub James Harden gets into it with Dillon Brooks in the first match after the 2023 all-star break
James Harden
The NBA is back after a short break and there are no signs of a slow start. James Harden and Dillon Brooks got into a scuffle in the first quarter of the game itself. Harden was driving to the basket while Brooks fouled him and continued to shove him after the call. Reggie Miller on broadcast said – “the foul is called on here but look Brooks continues (to shove)“.
Dillon Brooks has a reputation for getting into fights like the rest of the Grizzlies. He had a very eventful series against Golden State last year which prompted Klay Thompson to celebrate in his face when he beat them this season. James Harden on the other hand is no stranger to NBA fights. Harden has gotten into scuffles with multiple players including his own Sixers teammate Joel Embiid in the past.
Dillon Brooks fouled Harden after hitting a go-ahead three right before that. Brooks ranks 9th in the entire NBA in personal fouls so it is no surprise to see him get rough with Harden. James Harden has had a knack for drawing fouls throughout his career and is very good at it too. However, the scuffle did not escalate as players and officials got in the way. On the surface, it just looked like standard NBA trash talk between two in-form teams.

James Harden will look to prove doubters wrong after all-star snub
James Harden is averaging 21 points and 10 assists this season and still had no place in the all-star team. Harden has been a league MVP and is a 10x all-star too. He is leading the entire league in assists this season while being on a #3 seed as well. It was incredibly baffling when he was not announced as an all-star this year.
James Harden’s fans often accuse the league voters to have an agenda against Harden. It all started when Giannis Antetokounmpo was given the league MVP in 2019 despite Harden averaging 36 PPG. This was the 7th highest average of all time and yet Harden was not voted MVP.
Although, Harden might himself be the cause of his downfall. He was always criticized for foul-baiting and getting to the line in his prime. Harden made a living off a double-step-back which many felt was a travel. He intentionally flopped a lot as well which turned fans against his ideology of basketball.
