Dillon Brooks’ statements in the past on LeBron James
Dillon Brooks, the Grizzlies’ forward, held nothing back in a recent interview prior to the Lakers’ series against the team. As per fans, he fearlessly mentioned big names and got himself into trouble. In the playoffs ‘ first round, Brooks expressed his confidence in facing the Lakers and their star player, LeBron James. In fact, he believed that a first-round matchup against the Lakers was ideal for his team, and they would eliminate them from the playoffs. “I’m not afraid to play LeBron James in a seven-game series. It’s about the legacy. First time back in the playoffs, let’s knock him out,” said Brooks.
In another statement right after the Game 2 victory against the Lakers, Brooks said more ridiculous things. During the post-game interview, Brooks criticized James, proclaiming, “I don’t give someone respect until they score 40.” James had finished the game with 28 points, leading his team despite a difficult shooting night for the Lakers. Brooks continued to add more fuel to the fire during his interview, stating, “I don’t care, he’s old…If he wanted to say something, he should have said it earlier when I got my fourth foul.”
The 27-year-old guard anticipated that the Lakers’ star would start talking trash in Game 4 or 5, but he was ready to respond to him in Game 2. “I’m not afraid to provoke and engage with my opponents…My defensive skills are my pride,” concluded Dillon Brooks. He has developed a reputation for being a notorious trash-talker this season, particularly against teams such as the Golden State Warriors and the Lakers.
Karma might’ve gotten back to Brooks, who is now ejected from the game against the Lakers. Watch closely, as the match could take a turn at any point.
