WATCH: Jalen Brunson’s WEIRD 3-PT celebration in Game 4 leaves NBA fans guessing
Jalen Brunson pulled out a unique celebration that puzzled NBA broadcasters and fans alike

Jalen Brunson
Jalen Brunson once again guided the New York Knicks to a second consecutive win of the playoff series to take a 3-1 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The guard scored 29 points in a 102-93 victory. He went 5/9 from three-point range, and one of the threes had a particularly odd celebration which commentators and Lisa Salters could not decipher.
Brunson hit a step-back three on Darius Garland in the game and put his hand over his face in a mask-like gesture while having his first three fingers up and his pinky. Jeff Van Gundy, who was calling the game, said – “And I just don’t know what that is.” Some fans speculated that Brunson held his hand in a 3-1 position to indicate the Knicks taking a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference First round.
The New York Knicks have taken a 3-1 playoff series lead for the first time since 2013, when they went up 3-0 against the Boston Celtics. Jalen Brunson has had a sublime series averaging 24 points per game and seven points per game in the fourth quarter leading the New York Knicks. The Knicks travel back to Cleveland in hopes of closing out the series in five games.

Fans react to Jalen Brunson not revealing his celebration

Lis Salters interviewed Jalen Brunson after the game, where she asked – “The guys want to know your 3-point celebration. Where did it come from?” To which Brunson replied – “Don’t worry about it.” Brunson’s statement drew speculation and suggestions from NBA fans about what it could mean. Soccer fans chimed in under the post suggesting it was AS Roma forward Paulo Dybala’s celebration as one fan said – “The dybala mask.”
Lis Salters laughed at Brunson’s response, saying – “Oh, wow! Okay. You don’t need to know, guys.” Jeff Van Gundy and the rest of the coverage crew chuckled at Brunson’s response as Lisa wished him well for the rest of the series. Some fans suggested that it had a meaning behind it that was not fit to be said on national television, as one Twitter user said, “It’s obviously too inappropriate for tv.”
“Beautiful play, and mans worried about the celebration, lol. Mind ya business Jeff,” said one reply on Twitter. Brunson shot 56% from three in one of his most efficient performances this series, and this fans felt Jeff Van Gundy was focusing on the wrong things. The Brunson celebration will be a mystery for Knicks fans, but they would only care if he can take them to the next round.
