Butler mocks Horford’s gesture from Game 1 as Heat take 3-0 lead over Celtics
Jimmy Butler recreates Al Horford's celebration from Game 1 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals (Via Twitter)
Jimmy Butler has a reputation for being a fierce competitor and a relentless trash-talker. He showed both of those traits on Sunday when he imitated Al Horford’s timeout celebration from Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Horford, who plays for the Boston Celtics, had celebrated a three-pointer in the first quarter of the series opener that gave his team a 17-point lead by kneeling and calling for a timeout. He seemed to suggest that the Miami Heat were in trouble and needed to regroup by calling a timeout.
Butler did not appreciate that gesture, and he waited for his chance to get back at Horford. In Game 3, the Heat were in complete control of the game, leading by double digits for most of the night. In the third quarter, after Gabe Vincent hit a three-pointer that extended Miami’s lead to 74-51. Following this, Butler copied Horford’s celebration by kneeling and signaling for a timeout.
The move was clearly a jab at Horford and the Celtics, who looked dejected and defeated by the Heat’s dominance. Butler’s teammates loved his trolling as they celebrated the three-point play by Vincent and applauded him from the sideline.

Jimmy Butler leads Heat to brink of NBA Finals, Celtics face nearly impossible task
The Celtics are facing a nearly impossible task of overcoming a 3-0 series hole, something that no team has ever done in NBA history. The last thing they need is to have their opponent mock them and make them feel hopeless.
Butler’s celebration also shows how much he loves playing in big games and situations. He embraces pressure and competition and does not let anyone intimidate him or stop him from doing what he wants. He has been the leader and the best player for the Heat in these playoffs, averaging 26 points, seven rebounds and 6.3 assists per game in this series against the Celtics.
The Heat are now one win away from reaching the NBA Finals again after 2020. They have been the surprise team of these playoffs, upsetting the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round and now dominating the Celtics in the conference finals. They have shown that they are not afraid of anyone or anything, and they have Jimmy Butler to thank for that.
