Watch: Kai Jones’ wild REVERSE DUNK makes Hornets announcer go crazy

Charlotte Hornets

Kai Jones is one of the most unique players in the league and had an open athletic career before he joined the NBA. The game between Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards was a close face-off between the two teams. The Wizards defeated the Hornets 102-106 to secure 6th place in the Eastern Conference. Leading the Hornets Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 23 points. Former Boston Celtics star Gordan Hayward also scored 18 points. Reacting to their loss vs the Wizards, Hornets coach Steve Clifford mentioned how the team has to have physicality every night.

The Hornets took a 2-point lead in the fourth quarter after their outburst in the 3rd quarter. But the Wizards took the lead back in 4th quarter to ultimately win the game. Both the teams have met before this season and the Wizards took that game as well with a 100-108 win. Charlotte Hornets have been struggling with the series of injuries which has made the team lose so many games in this session. LaMelo Ball has been out with the line-up and has missed an ample amount of games. Dennis Smith Jr has missed some games but will be back from an ankle injury soon.

Apart from the fact that the Hornets are a poorly constructed team, they are yet to have their regular core on the court since the start of the season, which has been one of the primary reasons for their inconsistency so far. Last year, with LaMelo in the lineup, even if the Hornets were unable to make the playoffs, they had a good season as compared to a few of the last ones. A winner as a player, Michael Jordan has failed to become a winning owner with the Hornets.

Charlotte Hornet’s Kai Jones delivers an insane dunk against the Wizards

Kai Jones

Kai Jones was selected by the Charlotte Hornets in the first-round pick, but the jumper had his eyes set on something else as well. “I was very good,” said Jones. “I could have been an Olympian, for sure. If you go look at the records, I was an AAU National Champion. I qualified for the Junior Olympics in triple jump…..I was an all-around track athlete really, but I specialized in the jumps.” Jones did win a national triple jump championship when he was 13 years old.

Kai Jones is known for having an insane vertical and he can easily give some dunk highlights for the games. Due to a recent injury in the team, Jones has earned a rotational spot in the team. The high flyer doesn’t shy away from giving memorable highlights for the fans. Jones delivered a highlight dunk against the Washington Wizards. With 6.30 minutes remaining in the quarter, Kristaps Porzings got the rebound and tried to pass the ball which Jones stole. Running in the fast break Jones reverse dunked the ball to make it 89-93 for the Hornets.

More hyped than anybody was the game announcer who went crazy after the dunk. “Oh… WOW are you kidding me! HUM DIDDLY DEEE!… That was like a real game doing crazy stuff.” The Hornets’ announcer Eric Collins is a known hype-men for the Hornets’ crazy plays in the past that makes the game even crazier for the viewers. No NBA fan can ever forget “Oh Terry, how do you do it!” For a fan, there is perhaps no commentator to hype up their energy as Eric does.

LaMelo Ball’s injury and the Charlotte Hornets’ ill fate

The Hornets have one of the worst records in the NBA with only 4 wins in 18 games so far this season. The pieces in the team have not been able to gel together because of the injury this season. The Hornets have some valuable young pieces on the team but they have not gotten enough time together on the floor.

LaMelo Ball, the flashy point guard is an important piece in their success. LaMelo returned against Miami Heat after his long injury. “I feel straight. We’re going to be straight,” Ball said. “More games, it’ll get easier. I think I’m in a good spot.” Hopeful with Melo’s return Hornets’ head coach Clifford said, “When a player of his caliber comes back, it makes the game easier for everybody,” coach Clifford said of LaMelo’s return. However, LaMelo has been out of the lineup due to an ankle injury again and has missed the last 2 games for the Hornets. He is expected to return soon and push the Hornets up in the conference rankings.
