The French Basketball League is making moves as they had, in the past month, signed the 4-time NBA All-Star veteran Kemba Walker on a 1-year contract. When the decision was announced, Walker said that “The club was very interested in me, and I just wanted to be part of a club that wanted me, that believed in me.”

Well, that day has finally come when Walker arrives in Monaco to play for the AS Monaco Basket. He had spent 12 years in the NBA before he made the decision to join the European Basketball League. Although plagued by injuries, Kemba’as career was illustrious as to this day, he remains the highest all-time scorer for the Charlotte Hornets.

The AS Monaco’s welcome video shows Kemba Walker happy and can be seen resonating with what he said the last month, “I don’t think my time is up yet. I want to keep going until I can’t take it anymore. Having fun, being surrounded by great people. I welcome this opportunity in Monaco, and I want to help build something.” As his return to the NBA was uncertain, he made a key decision to switch and play for them.

The video begins with him greeting the fans of Monaco and the team, which then processes into a montage of him arriving in the city and enjoying himself with the management staff of AS Monaco. Talking about the weather in Monaco, he says, “It’s hot out here, sheesh.”

He continues, “I enjoyed the journey to come here to Monaco. I was looking forward to it. Really excited to be here, happy to be here now” Walker, in his prime, was hitting 25.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists and transitioning from the NBA to here must have been a big step. Talking about the same, he goes on to say,“It’s a big step, something different. I am just looking forward to the opportunity of playing Basketball and what better place to be than Monaco”

According to Walker, “Basketball is basketball” and now that he has finally arrived there, it is going to take some “adjustments”. He is excited to meet new people and coaches and learn new things. He is all set to play his first match next month, on 16th September against Limoges CSP.
