WATCH: Rivalry renewed, Heat-Knicks bring FIESTY TEMPERS in NBA playoff Game 3
A scuffle breaks out between the Knicks and the Heat in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Knicks-Heat getting chippy in Game 3 of Eastern Conference Semifinals
It’s been a while since the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat have faced each other in the postseason, but their old rivalry was on full display on Saturday night. The two teams got into a physical altercation in the third quarter of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, adding some drama to a one-sided affair.
The scuffle started when Julius Randle, arguably the Knicks’ best player, was pushed by Cody Zeller to the ground while he was under the rim when Immanuel Quickley (#5) made a lay-up.
Julius’ teammates didn’t take the action kindly and pushed Zeller off the court. Tempers flared up between both players, who got up and exchanged shoves and words.
The situation quickly escalated as players from both benches joined the fray. The officials had to step in and separate the two teams, and after reviewing the video, they handed out technical fouls to Zeller, Caleb Martin, and Isaiah Hartenstein. The incident added some fire to a game that was otherwise lacking in suspense.

Miami Heat cruise to a 2-1 playoff series lead
The Knicks had no answer for the Heat’s balanced attack, as they fell behind by double digits in the first quarter and never recovered. The Heat led by as many as 27 points in the final period, and cruised to a 105-86 victory. They now hold a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-seven series.
The Heat welcomed back Jimmy Butler, who missed Game 2 with a sprained ankle. Miami’s All-star showed no signs of rust, as he scored 28 points on efficient shooting, and also contributed four rebounds and three assists. He was joined by Bam Adebayo, who had 17 points, 12 rebounds, and one block, and Max Strus, who provided a spark off the bench with 16 points with four 3-pointers.
The Knicks, meanwhile, struggled to find their rhythm on the offense. They shot a dismal 34.1 percent from the field and 20 percent from beyond the arc. Randle had another disappointing performance, scoring only 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting, and also committing four turnovers. He will need to bounce back in a big way if the Knicks want to avoid falling into a deep hole on Monday night.
The Heat-Knicks rivalry has been dormant for years, but it’s back with a vengeance. And it’s only going to get more intense as the series goes on.
