Why are Draymond Green, Warriors’ sentiments hurt after hostile and extensive chants at TD Garden in Game 3?

Draymond green's beef with the Boston Fans continues
Draymond Green is one of the most toughest players, well how are vicious words from the TD Garden pinching him so badly ? Is there a more polarizing player in the NBA than Draymond Green ? none come to mind. TD Garden trolled him and the Warriors at large, as they succumbed to Boston in Game 3. It all started as soon as he set a foot on the court as the Celtics fans not even wasting a second straight away started by booing him and made it very clear that they are back with the playoff energy they are known for.
The Boston Celtics have retook the lead in the 2022 NBA Finals vs. the Golden State Warriors. At home for the first time in the series, the Celtics pulled away from the Warriors for a 116-100 victory in Game 3 on Wednesday night. Boston, up 2-1 in the Finals, withstood a third-quarter charge from Golden State, and put the game away in the fourth quarter. However, the assassin from Golden State neutralized the Celtics in Game , with the performance of a lifetime, going all square to San Francisco.

Boston’s fans dealt damage to the Warriors in game 3, as Stephen Curry scored a game-high 31 points on 54.6% shooting and had 15 in the third quarter as the Warriors tried their best to nudge past. Klay Thompson had his best game of the series, adding 25 points, not enough to steal a win at the Garden. Jaylen Brown had 27 points, as Jayson Tatum added 26 while Marcus Smart dropped 24 points, as the trio combined for 77 points to lead the Celtics, who led by as many as 18 points in the first half.

“We played in front of rude people” – Draymond Green and the Warriors rattled but not surprised by the hostile crowd

In these NBA Finals, we have seen the heated atmosphere, as the fans exchanged words with Draymond Green, who got blasted by the Boston crowd in Game 3. Draymond Green struggled, scoring just two points and adding three assists before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Draymond Green is used to being the villain.
He plays with emotion, trash talks constantly and loves to get under opponents’ skin. Through three games in the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, Green has done all three things , probably even gotten under the skin of the Celtics Fans. Draymond Green also unintentionally got the crowd right as he was neither good on the defensive end nor on the offensive one.
The Celtics fans were not that great at welcoming the Golden State Warriors players when they were getting introduced before the game started. They booed every player as soon as the announcement was made. But the loudest ones were for Draymond Green and that probably got stuck in his mind.
Boston fans are probably giving the Warriors a taste of their medicine, when the Dub Nation made it impossible for Charles Barkley to even enter the stadium, as they expressed their disdain against him. American sports fans chanting that an opposing player “sucks” is commonplace, but even that wasn’t enough for Boston Celtics fans as they expressed their hatred for outspoken and physical Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.
The intensity of Draymond Green, unsettled the Boston Celtics players in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The former Defensive Player of the Year’s physicality set the tone for the Warriors’ defense, as only 3 Celtics’ players got into double figures. Green’s impact on that win was not both physically and mentally. He got into scuffles with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Grant Williams over the course of 48 minutes. However, after the loss, Al Horford did not want to credit him for getting in the Celtics’ heads as the visitors fell apart in the second half.
“My baby girl, she probably can’t make out what they’re saying, and then for DJ, who can… This is what it is. This is what you got. Like I said before, he said he was going to be a coach, maybe that’s you one day that they’re yelling at like that. But you see your dad go through it, and we’re ok”
“Yes my family is livid, and trust me I get it. But for me, who’s raising a young black man in America, for him to understand how America works, as opposed to how they say America works, that was just another example of it. ‘F**K DRAYMOND! F**K DRAYMOND’. F**k you too.” This was Draymond’s response to the hostile Boston crowd, which will host Game 4 of the Finals soon.
Grant Williams, the Boston Power forward defended his fans, as he stated its normal to hear chants like this. “Not the worst things I’ve heard, I feel like. Some of those chants, you just accept. Some people respond to them well, some embrace them; others, they shy away from them. I feel like the Garden fans don’t hold back. That’s what I love about them,” Williams said.
“They’re going to be there for you on the positive side, and they’re going to let you know whether you’re doing the right thing or not. When we were losing last year, they were doing the same thing to us. So we respect it“
The Warriors didn’t take kindly to the treatment of Green, and Klay Thompson was particularly irked by it. He was asked about the crowd following the game and took dig at the Celtics faithful.
“We’ve played in front of rude people before. Dropping F-bombs with children in the crowd. Really classy. Good job, Boston.” Thompson lashed out at the resentful crowd. Even the Warriors coach, Steve Kerr didn’t find the chants to his liking. He was asked after the game about the fans’ response to Green. “Classy, Very classy.” he answered.

The NBA Finals probably isn’t the greatest place to bring your three-year-old, especially with games having such non-pleasant words flying around. Steph and company are not one’s to give as they will look to feed on the hatred dished out by the Boston fans at the Garden. With Klay in his rhythm and Poole growing slowly in the series, the Warriors will give the Celtics a run for their money, as for draymond, he would like to steer clear of any Boston fans in the future.
