Liz Cambage withdrew herself from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and at that time stated the reason as taking care of her mentally and physically. But now after some investigation, there are reports which claim the actual reason was her bad behavior and outburst during a closed-door scrimmage with the Nigerian Women’s Basketball team. The Los Angeles Sparks star at WNBA, Liz Cambage crossed lines during a game between Team Australia and Team Nigeria and it all went so wrong that the Australian heads and officials had to call it off just after the second quarter. As they believed things could have been dirtier if they continued the game. But all this was behind the curtain for more than a year and her departure from the Australian team just shocked the world but now it makes sense.
Liz Cambage is already heavily disrespected for her temper control as in the WNBA she had made it to the headlines for losing it all during plays. But this time she crossed the line and was an absolute racist. As the members of Team Nigeria claim that Liz Cambage called them “monkeys” and told them to “go back to their third world country”. A day later the record breaking and making center also apologized to the Nigerian Team but of course, certain things aren’t acceptable in the society and racism is one of those. Even the members of Team Australia are disappointed with her because of her bad behavior and racist quotes during a closed-door scrimmage.
An Anonymous player has come forward and quoted some words regarding Liz Cambage: “Although she’s Australian we knew she was half Nigerian so before then it was like she was one of us… That was another thing to cut deep, for her to do that and not show any remorse at all.” During her departure from Team Australia as she wanted to take care of her mental and physical health it was also reported that she had some altercations with Team Nigeria and could be charged for those.
