“Wouldn’t surprise me at all if the NBA suspended him,” Stephen A. Smith predicts huge CONSEQUENCES post Draymond Green’s ejection episode

Draymond Green

Stephen A. Smith feels the NBA will suspend Draymond Green for game 3 against the Sacramento Kings after the Golden State Warriors star was ejected last night. The Sacramento Kings picked up a 114-106 victory over Golden State to give Stephen Curry his first-ever 0-2 deficit in NBA playoff history. Draymond Green was the central figure in the Warriors’ loss after picking up 5 fouls and an ejection in the game.

Stephen A. Smith discussed the matter on First Take, saying – “One one angle I’m looking at it… It calls for a suspension. From another angle, I saw Sabonis grab his ankle.” Domantas Sabonis received a technical foul for grabbing the ankle, whereas Draymond was ejected for the stamp. Smith feels that Draymond will be suspended but hopes it won’t happen as Green is a vital player for Golden State.

I’m praying that it won’t… But it wouldn’t surprise me if the NBA suspended him,” said Stephen A. Smith. Draymond was last suspended during the 2016 NBA Finals for kicking LeBron James. Smith defended his view of Draymond being suspended by saying – “In today’s NBA, you do see people getting suspended for less.” No official statement has been released yet by the NBA on the situation.

Green’s stamp on Sabonis did not affect the Kings All-star during the game, but he had to get an X-ray done for his lungs after the game. Sabonis dropped 21 points and 4 of them after getting injured midway through the fourth quarter. The Kings could keep the Warriors to under 50 points in the paint while scoring over 50 themselves in a gritty two-way display.

The Golden State Warriors have returned from a 3-1 deficit in the past against the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016 but went on to lose the NBA Finals that year. If Draymond Green does get suspended, the Warriors will lose their defensive anchor for a crucial game 3. No team has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit in the NBA playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors are staring at the possibility of becoming the eighth NBA team to get eliminated in the first round after winning a championship. The last team to do so was the 2020/21 Los Angeles Lakers, who got stopped by the Phoenix Suns in 6 games. The Warriors take on the Kings in game three at home on April 20th.
