“Y’all don’t ever have to watch me play,” Suns’ Kevin Durant takes a jab at Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal after stunning debut vs Hornets

Kevin Durant got real after his Phoenix Suns debut and responded to NBA analysts’ comments on him over the last few weeks. “Most definitely. Because at this point, they’re saying, go play with Scoot Henderson and win a championship and then we’ll give you credit,” said KD to Yahoo Sports. Charles Barkley went on First Take last week and claimed that KD needed to win a championship without Steph to gain respect from the old heads.
“I don’t need no credit from y’all, no credit from [Barkley], no credit from Shaq. Y’all don’t ever have to watch me play ever again, don’t talk about me if you don’t [rock] with me,” said KD in response to Barkley and Shaq on his need for approval. Durant has always been active online and follows what is being said about him, unlike most stars. KD does not take lightly to criticism and feels that NBA experts are holding him on an unfair pedestal.
“I’m not gonna stop doing what I do. Everybody has their opinions, man. It’s not gonna stop me and how I approach the game,” said the Sun’s debutant. KD has been hooping consistently since the start of his career and is already a lock for the Hall of Fame. KD was the youngest player to ever win a scoring title in 2010 and went on to win three in a row before adding a fourth in 2014 along with league MVP. The Slim Reaper has a plethora of accomplishments yet he can never get rid of his doubters.
A title with Phoenix would instantly shut down all the criticism towards Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant already has a career worthy of the Hall Of Fame but a title with the Phoenix Suns would be monumental for his legacy. KD has two championships so far, both coming with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018. He was incredible in those series winning Finals MVP on both occasions. However, KD will always have his critics for those rings since it was with a ‘super-team’. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant together made the Warriors virtually unbeatable.
KD himself does not care much about these narratives as he is just out there to play basketball. His mindset has always been clear from the start and is the same now at Phoenix. A title in Arizona would shut all of his critics as he finally gets his title without Steph. He would get Phoenix their first-ever title and Chris Paul would be forever indebted to him for the ring.
However, a failure in Phoenix would be a solid dent in his legacy. KD has already been part of one of the most disappointing super-teams with the Brooklyn Nets. The trio of KD, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden were able to win just one playoff series and played less than 20 games together. KD has a shot at cementing his legacy in the eyes of doubters and making sure history looks upon him favorably.
