Stephen A. Smith has gone after Kawhi Leonard for “ridiculous” reasons and fans are now slandering the former for his takes.
Stephen A Smith and Kawhi Leonard
Stephen A. Smith on an episode of First Take with Kendrick Perkins and Molly Qerim went on an absolute rant. Smith, who is famous for his “controversial” takes often irritates/aggravates fans, but this time, he took it “too far.” Smith, this time, went after one of the NBA’s favorites, “The Klaw” Kawhi Leonard. Surprisingly, his take this time was unanimously rejected by fans across the world, as they called Smith various names.
On Friday’s episode of First Take, Stephen A. Smith called Kawhi Leonard “the worst superstars this game has ever seen.” This take from Smith was with regards to Leonard’s absenteeism from the Clippers’ Game 3 against the Phoenix Suns. The first round of the playoff series has several controversial opinions. Be it Reddick/Bucher’s opinion on officiating in the Warriors v Kings series etc. But Smith’s take took the prize for the “most hated” opinion.
While talking about the Clippers’ loss to the Suns, Smith seemingly put the entire blame on Leonard. He started off by saying, “Kawhi Leonard should be on the list of one of the worst superstars this game has ever seen.” Smith then tried to back his statements up by signaling that Leonard voluntarily makes the decision to sit out games. He also pointed out that Leonard was suffering from an injury to his right knee, but still slandered the player. What surprised fans was the same issue, “if you claim the injuries are legit then why the need to say all the other stuff?”
Smith seems to have gained a lot many haters after this opinion as NBA Fans are now after him. Let us look at some of their reactions on twitter to Smith’s statements on First Take.
Fans are after Stephen A. Smith after he “ridicules” Kawhi Leonard for “no reason”
Stephen A Smith is covered in controversy almost every other time, mostly for his controversial takes, making it no surprise. This time Smith went after one of the nicest players in the league, Kawhi Leonard. Fans have gone no holds barred against Smith for mocking the player during his injury. What are troubling fans more is the fact that Smith is scapegoating Leonard for no reason. Look at some of the reactions fans had to Smith’s statements.
While Smith’s statements have aggravated fans across the world, it will be interesting to see how the Clippers get over their recent loss to the Suns. Devin Booker clearly outclassed the Clippers in Leonard’s absence, and that clearly isn’t a good look for the team. Will Kawhi play in Game 4 of the series? Will Kawhi even play in this round of the playoffs? How will the Clippers get back up after defeat? These are all questions left unanswered. The answers to most of these questions lie with Kawhi Leonard, and now, the eyes of the entire world are on him.
