“You are FAT” – Hawks fans mercilessly troll Luka Doncic during Atlanta’s win over Mavericks
Hawks fans poked fun at Luka throughout the game and chanted “You are fat” when he went to the charity stripe.

Luka Doncic has been the target of several trolls and criticism. The young Slovenian player has been a common target in a season that has not been memorable for the Dallas Mavericks. Following his 42-point performance against the Miami Heat, Doncic went unnoticed throughout the team’s losing skid. The recent game against the Atlanta Hawks provided him with an excellent opportunity to redeem himself. Unfortunately, the Mavericks were defeated by the Hawks in overtime by the slimmest of margins.
Scoring 22 points with seven rebounds and assists, Doncic put up a decent performance. Kyrie Irving had an impressive 41-point game, and it looked like the Mavs would finally pick up a win. However, the Mavericks fell two points short in what seems to be a winless streak, as Luka failed to hit a game-winning three-pointer. At the completion of overtime, the scoreboard read 130-132 in favor of the Atlanta Hawks.
Many fans have been making fun of Kyrie Irving, accusing him of bringing in a string of bad luck. However, Luka isn’t having the most pleasurable time on social media either. To add salt to the wound, the Hawks fans didn’t have any intentions of being kind to the Mavs superstar. On every appearance Luka made at the free throw line, the crowd chanted, “You are fat.” Mocking Luka mercilessly for his physique has been a frequent occurrence among those who dislike and stand against him.

As brutal as it may seem, the ‘You are fat’ comments have seemed to become a casual line for people. Insinuating that Luka’s appearance isn’t that of a conventional professional athlete, many have made degrading comments about his body, especially on Twitter.
It’s not rocket science to say that these are tough times for Luka. Almost being knocked out of the tournament and being trolled for your body isn’t pleasant for anyone. Falling from the fourth to the eleventh spot would be another highlight that he and the Mavs as a unit would bitterly reflect on. While the future holds many positive opportunities for a talented player like Luka, this season would be better to be forgotten quickly.
The Mavericks still have a very slim chance of making the Play-In tournament. One that requires them to win all of their remaining games, something they haven’t been doing well lately. Even if they do manage to win, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves would have to lose all of their remaining games to put Dallas on top of them. Needless to say, the tide looks more against and out of the Mavericks’ control.
