“Last night he looked RUSTY” Zach Lowe shows no mercy while criticising Kawhi Leonard for sluggish performance in comeback game

NBA analyst Zach Lowe called out Los Angeles Clippers Kawhi Leonard as he failed to find his groove in his comeback game. To those unaware – the Claw was out citing an injury and missed more than 11 games for his LA Clippers. He also came off the bench in the only two games, he had played earlier in this season.

On the same note, Zach Lowe was talking on the show ‘NBA Today’ when he quoted, “I thought last night he looked rusty, rustier than I expected. A little bit worse frankly than he looked in the first two games he played this season and a little tentative.”

Talking about his individual tally of points – Kawhi Leonard scored six points (2-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, and four assists across 25 minutes.

Zach added,“I expected him to come out and say, ‘okay I’m back give me the ball in my spots.’ He was deferential to other teammates and maybe that’s fine like you said it’s his first game back in a while maybe it’s a two-year process and at the end of the game we saw that transition layup he kind of started seizing the game a little bit so maybe it’s just going to take time but I actually last night fell a little short of my expectations.”

LA Clippers thumped the Detroit Pistons 96-91, as star Kawhi Leonard scored six points in 25 minutes. He returned to the court after missing a brief period due to knee soreness which was surgically repaired in July 2021, and he had been dealing with stiffness in his right knee.

Kawhi is well aware of how injury prone he is, a massive result of which he missed all of last NBA season while rehabbing. He looked a bit slow, but expect him to come good once he starts playing regularly.

However, Reggie Jackson led the Clippers on the offensive end, with 23 points. Paul George and Marcus Morris added 16 points each, and Ivica Zubac tied his career high with 18 rebounds. Luke Kennard sat out due to a right calf strain.

On the other hand, Bojan Bogdanovic scored 26 points for the Pistons, and Jaden Ivey added 18 points. Cade Cunningham missed out due to a left shin soreness injury he suffered.

This was the Pistons’ fifth straight loss of the season. They need to regroup and work on the problem areas to get their campaign on winning ways, and the Clippers seem to be a more balanced team with nine wins out of 16 games.

Clippers will play the San Antonio Spurs the next, while the Pistons will take on the Los Angeles Lakers in an exciting game of two bottom-placed teams.
