“Basketball Gods do not want him to dominate” Zion Williamson badly rolls up his ankle vs Miami Heat

Zion Williamson

New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson was favorite of all to dominate the upcoming new season. But looks like the Basketball gods don’t think that way. During a preseason game against the Miami Heat the power player rolled up his ankle but continued to play for a few mins. Earlier, as well injuries have kept Zion getting into the limelight.

When Zion Williamson was asked about his injury, he said, “I’m fine.” He added, “I want to use the right term, but in the moment, it didn’t feel too good, it was one of those things that happened and I popped back up like, `Yeah, I’m straight.’ Played a few minutes after that, felt fine, then they sent me to the back just to double-check.”

Zion was made to stay in the game for about three more minutes after getting hurt. He shot two free throws, then assisting a 3pt by teammate CJ McCollum. He attempted a layup, then converted another 3-pt before getting subbed out with few mins left for half time. Williamson was then evaluated by doctors, who assured him that he was only going to experience soreness and that he’ll be fine. Pelicans fans must have had their heart in their mouth when they saw Zion fall. They were quick to comment on the above YouTube video which went viral. Few of those comments can be seen below:

New Orleans Pelicans head coach Willie Green is assured that Zion is doing great and the twisting of ankle is just mere. He said, “He’s doing fine. Looks like, I think, he might have rolled his ankle a little bit. He’ll be day to day.” Williamson only played 24 games in his rookie NBA season in 2019-20 because of right knee problems. He then played in 61 games in the next year and hasn’t played in a real game for the Pelicans since.

New Orleans begin their regular season on Oct. 19 at Brooklyn. Williamson finished with 11 points in 11 minutes for the Pelicans on Wednesday, against Miami Heat won the exhibition game 120-103. Pelicans have managed to build a strong roster but the players form also matters. Had injury to Zion Williamson been serious, the Pelicans team road ahead in the regular season would have been difficult and the playoffs hope would have been broken.
