Zion Williamson claims to participate in the slam dunk competition if he gets selected as an All-Star.
The annual NBA All-Star game is something fans certainly look forward to every year. Competitions between the best players in the league are viewed by basketball fans everywhere. The skills competition, the three-point contests, and the slam dunk contest are fan favorites that lead to the ultimate All-Star matchup between the bests in the game.
The New Orleans Pelicans‘ Zion Williamson, recently in a post-game press conference talked about participating in the slam dunk contest. The athlete stated that he would participate in the competition if he got selected as an All-Star.

If I'm in the All-Star game, I'll do the dunk contest. But if I'm not, not doing it.Zion Williamson said
Williamson was not selected as an All-Star this year.
Williamson’s statement turned heads in the NBA world. The forward has been in talks among basketball heads about his weight. At the start of this season, the star seemed larger than usual. Many fans, analysts and veterans of the game have discussed Williamson’s physique and the effect on the player’s performance. Therefore, the statement received surprised reactions.
If not for the player’s current weight, Williamson has showcased amazing dunk abilities in the past. The player’s jumping abilities have left fans in awe of the player. Especially in his high school career, the forward was famous for his slam dunks.
This year’s All-Star slam dunk contest was a disaster
Every year, NBA fans look forward to the All-Star slam dunk contest. But fans were rather disappointed by this year’s competition. The Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown, Miami Heat’s Jaime Jaquez Jr, New York Knicks’ Jacob Toppin, and the defending champ Mac McClung were the participants.
Fans believed that the competition was mediocre and the participants did not deserve the scores given by the judges. Brown was heavily trolled for his performance in the competition. In the end, McClung succeeded to defend his title and win with a perfect score. After winning, the player himself expressed not being fully satisfied with his performance.
This caused the fans to recall their previous favorite slam dunk competitions. The disappointment caused fans to demand better participants next year. In the list of many requested participants by fans, Williamson was present. If the player ends up being an All-Star next year, fans will look forward to his participation in the contest.
