“Imagine if somebody talked about their child how they spoke about me” Zion Williamson slams his BODY SHAMERS after making a strong comeback in 2022-23 season

Zion Williamson
From being the greatest draft prospect since LeBron and averaging 27 ppg in just his second season, to being the target of body shaming, Zion Williamson has gone through hell. Zion Williamson was the number 1 draft pick in the 2019 class and was all over the headlines for his on-court greats and unreal potential. His broken foot injury in 2021 changed the story of his career but even better was Zion’s comeback to the league. More ferocious, more power, and even more speed!
Zion opened up about his struggles with the foot injury and everything that came with it. He talked about the days when the media projected him as fat, lazy, and a failure. “What people don’t understand is, even the writers and stuff, if they have children of their own, imagine if somebody talked about their child how they spoke about me,” Williamson told FOX Sports last week. He added, “Critiquing my body, critiquing how I look. Every time they talked about me, it was about weight, how bad I looked. I don’t even think they realized what kind of impact that can have on you.”
Williamson’s weight increased since he was unable to play basketball or perform fitness exercises. But many didn’t understand this and went all out on him with mems, trolls, segments on TV and what-not. Lines were crossed when people were addressing him and it’s really hurting knowing what the young center had to go through. Talking about his weight gain in the offseason and struggles, Zion said, “That’s nasty because with a lower-body injury, that dictates how you walk, that dictates how you run, how you do everyday activities and how you move,” Williamson said. “For the world to critique me like that and all I was trying to do was make sure my foot was straight? It was a lot. I’m not going to lie to you — It was a lot.”
Zion Williamson’s return has made Pelicans a contender in the West

After his broken foot injury rehab, with sports medicine and performance specialist Jasper Bibbs and dietician Jhonas Lewis, Zion Williamson has returned to the Pelicans lineup. Williamson’s return has given the team a better chance to move ahead in the playoffs. Since his return, Zion has been looking more seamless in his movement, and looking at him play at this level, it looks like he is just getting started.
While talking about his rehab which included a strict diet and workout routine Williamson said, “It gave my mind mental discipline, sharp discipline.” Recently after the Lakers and Pelicans match when LeBron was asked about Zion, the Lakers’ star said. “He’s in great shape right now… We’ve never seen a talent of his size, his speed, his athleticism. Just like a Giannis. Just like a Barkley or Shaq. There’s certain talents in our league that you’ve never seen before.” LeBron also added that Zion was on the verge of being great for a long time.
Zion is averaging 23.1 ppg in 32 minutes this season with the Pelicans. With a 5-5 record, the New Orleans Pelicans sit at the 8th spot in Western Conference. Williamson is now in the finest physical condition of his life. Williamson is faster and his strength only complements his speed. His failed dunk on Myles Turner against the Pacers was a glimpse of Zion’s newly gained athleticism and his will to dominate the defenders in the paint area. With the season going ahead, if Zion remains fit and healthy he is going to gain more rhythm in the game and find his footing.
