Nikola Jokic the reigning MVP of the league the highest achievement a player can achieve on a individual level is something he has achieved with his unique style of play. But still Nikola isn’t really getting treated correct as the correct recognition isn’t even around him even though the Serbian beast as of now is better than most of the superstars in the league. Denver Nuggets under his leadership this season are ranked as the 6th seed in the western conference with the record of 22 wins and 20 looses at .524 as they lost their last match-up against the Utah Jazz.

Nikola Jokic even though is somewhat considered as a superstar isn’t really treated as one since he isn’t respected like others by media, fans and even the officials running next to the court every game. The advantage one gets in the league after becoming a star or a superstar is the attention factor which helps in getting some trips to the line which eventually results in points. Some such examples are LeBron James and James Harden who come up on top as the referees just like the fans are more focused on them as the game revolves around.

Nikola Jokic is often called “Joker” for his circus style game and the energy he carries around. But in his case the referees have all the jokes as most of the time the referees don’t really call fouls for him even though his opponents are most of the time ready to throw hands and push him off as he tries to do everything he can up and around to win a game. Jokic is a beast on both the ends as he runs the defense as well as the offence while grabbing a easy triple-double as his skillsets aren’t limited and he has a full bag which includes all major aspects of the game. Recently Jokic’s teammate Aaron Gordon stepped up and threw some light on the fact of him not really getting the right treatment by the league officials.

Nikola Jokic is already league’s reigning MVP but is again running for the award as he stands second in the ranking. But still isn’t getting treated right especially by the officials as they call the least fouls they can when it comes about him. Aaron Gordon when questioned about the number of trips Jokic get at the line replied with nothing but pure facts and pointed out something he misses even while being a superstar. He quoted: “He’s fouled every play. Obviously the refs aren’t going to call it every play. They’re all over his arms, they’re all over his body, they are grabbing him. He’s the reigning MVP of the league and he’s getting three throws a game. Still doing what he’s doing. But he needs more foul calls as they’re fouling. It’s not like begging, it’s not asking for something that’s not there. We just ask him to be officiated like everybody else.”

Aaron Gordon was speaking straight facts and even sounded angry. Nikola Jokic is averaging only 5.1 free throws per game this season. Despite him playing under the rim most of the times and drawing contact more often, still has the referees not using the whistle to let his efforts count. Nikola even after being a MVP still somewhere tops the list of underrated players when it comes regarding fanbase, recognition and respect around the league.
