“Old veteran, senior citizen guy” Kendrick Perkins slams the Lakers for pressuring LeBron James into playing for a useless roster
Kendrick Perkins on Lakers
It has been one hell of a struggle for the Los Angeles Lakers this season and especially after All-Star games. The team has been on a four-game losing streak now with their most recent setback caused by their sister franchise, the Los Angeles Clippers. This puts the Lakers in danger of slipping further down below the top 10 of the Western Conference losing their chance of competing at the play-in tournament. Fans are starting to feel the tension rise as it seems like the team is slowly giving up.
The Clippers defeated the Lakers concluding the game at 132-111 sweeping them in the regular-season series. LeBron James led the Lakers once again with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the game as the rest of the team struggled to produce. A leaderless Clippers team dominated the Lakers in shooting with 17 of 27 from the three-point range. Reggie Jackson had a beautiful game finishing with 36 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists followed by 19 points and 9 rebounds from Ivica Zubac.
LeBron James says the LA Clippers are better than LA Lakers even without Paul George
LeBron James has been the punching bag for all the doubters of the Lakers this season. Despite all the negativity, the veteran forward has still been performing at a very high level trying to keep the playoff hopes alive for his team. Averaging 28.8 points with 6.2 assists, 8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and a block as a 37-year old forward is no easy task that LeBron manages to put up on a nightly basis. This earned his 18th straight All-Star appearance and five straight captaincy selection.
After the Clippers upset, LeBron had a few thoughts to share on the Lakers season. He said, “Obviously it’s been challenging for us this year. Defensively we had a lot of breakdowns. We haven’t lost a lot of games because our defenses have been broken down. But it’s also been because of our offense at times.” The Lakers were simply not able to produce on offense that last night and the Clippers were smart enough to read through their defense to get contested shots in as well. On being asked how he felt sharing an arena with a team that’s defeated them all four times during the regular season, he said, “They’re a better team.”
Kendrick Perkins slams the LA Lakers for wasting the time of LeBron James
The regular season is close to coming to an end with only 20 games or less remaining for teams to play. For the Lakers, a series of tough matches lie ahead of them, and with Anthony Davis needing to be away due to an injury, it seems almost tough to see this team win more than five or six games, Kendrick Perkins would agree.
“The Lakers are not going anywhere and when you look at their remaining schedule in the month of March, there’s only one team I see them beating and that’s the Houston Rockets. So why even waste time? Why even put all that workload on this old veteran senior citizens guy that you’re going to need next year?” said Perkins. He also commented saying that the Lakers have forgotten how to win considering that they have a very experienced roster. Besides the King, the Lakers only have Stanley Johnson and Austin Reaves as backups who are not near to the level of the other players. Will they pull through and surprise the world this season?
