“Deserves jail time” – Anonymous NBA players voting for Paul Pierce among Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and others in GOAT conversation has fans in splits
The Truth is a Hall of Famer but may not be accepted in the GOAT debate.

Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Paul Pierce
Each year, the league introduces a poll that allows current players to vote on different aspects. Multiple polls include all sorts of criteria, from the most overrated player to the most underrated ones, etc. However, the most anticipated poll that always garners the limelight is the greatest player of all time.
Launched in 2019 by the Athletic, the anonymous player polls have caught a lot of attention. Interestingly enough, however, this year, the voting for the greatest player of all time showcased an interesting graph. The GOAT category includes legends like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and other dominant players from different eras.

However, one of the players seemed to have voted for a former NBA champion, who, according to the fans, shouldn’t be on the list.
Out of the 133 players who voted, one of them voted for Paul Pierce. Stephen Curry and Magic Johnson received the same number of votes, though there are numerous reasons to have them in the GOAT conversation. Michael Jordan is considered the GOAT by most of them—61, to be exact.
On the other hand, LeBron James was favored by 56 active players. Regardless, Pierce’s name on the list had fans going haywire.
Twitteratis could not fathom Pierce’s name among Michael Jordan and LeBron James
The Celtics legend is a Hall of Famer, 10-time All-Star, four-time All-NBA, and also has a Finals MVP award under his name.
Not only that, Pierce was also one of the most talented scorers to have ever played. However, when compared to James and MJ, fans did not acknowledge the truth in the anonymous player poll, making all sorts of comments.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
There are multiple criteria where James and MJ are way ahead of Pierce. The King is still active in the league at the age of 39, while also being better than most of the league.
Whereas Michael Jordan’s six rings, multiple MVP awards, and overall performance in the 14 seasons he’s played for the Bulls say it all.
Well, the votes are anonymous, as fans can only wonder who voted for Pierce. The anonymous player polls by the Athletic are easily the most interesting statistic by far. A major reason for the same is that it comes directly from NBA players.
As these polls start to gain more popularity, there will definitely be a rise in the number of voters in the coming years.
